LDR: Mason's rats
My work on Netflix's Love, Death & Robots anthology episode anthology episode
I'm really grateful I got to work on one episode of the Love, Death & Robots series. I was responsible for creating the exterior environment, except for the buildings, windmills and wood fences which were done by other artists. So the mud, grass (sometime blood-covered), trees, stone walls etc.
This project was perfect opportunity to polish my semi-procedural tree workflow in Houdini, where shape is driven by low-res geo, but final details are procedurally generated. Many variations of a tree can be generate quickly like this, while still being art-directable. Unfortunately not many trees are to be seen in the final cut.
Similar approchach for walls allows quickly adapting to layout changes.
Ground close-ups are always tricky, usually needing a different setup done per shot.

This was one of my favorite projects at Axis.
